Corporate Social Responsibility

“Uozu Serikomi Choroku” is a traditional folk song of Uozu with a history of about 650 years. Every year, employees of our group companies participate in the “Serikomi Choroku Odori” festival where groups of people dance to the fierce rhythm of the folk song on the street of Uozu City, thereby contributing to the preservation and succession of this traditional art form.

The Company is cooperating as a volunteer instructor in the “‘14-Year-Old Challenge’ to Learn from Society” program promoted by the Toyama Prefectural Board of Education. Through the program, second-year junior high school students participate in work experience, welfare, and volunteer activities outside of school for five days. We accept junior high school students from Uozu City and Namerikawa City. In FY2023, after touring our Uozu and Hayatsuki factories, the students attended a lecture at the R&D Center, and experienced hands-on training in actual adhesive compounding and coating, melamine tableware creation, aerial image kit creation, and mini-sign creation using cut-out letters.

The Group collects uneaten food items from households of the employees of group companies and donates them to Food Nation Uozu, an activity organized by the Uozu City Council of Social Welfare. In FY2023, the total donated items amounted to 209 items, including 70 kg of rice and other items in 7 cardboard boxes.
The donated items are provided to households and welfare facilities in need in Uozu City and nearby areas through the Council of Social Welfare.

Group company Diamond Engineering hosted a youth baseball tournament as a crown sponsor. The tournament consisted of league games among three teams belonging to the Uozu City Youth Baseball League, and the ballplayers played heated games.

Group company ELECTRO-CERAMICS (THAILAND) conducted a tree-planting activity in FY2023. The tree planting activity, started in 2019, was subsequently suspended due to due to the fear of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, a second tree planting activity took place after three years.
Seventy employees participated in the activity and planted about 70 peacock flower trees on the grounds of Banklang Municipality School, a junior high school, with the cooperation of the town of Banklang, where the company is located.

Group company NCI Indonesia donated a cow to a village near the plant in conjunction with the local Eid al-Adha (Sacrifice Festival). During the festival, a sheep or cow was offered as a sacrifice to God, and the meat was shared with the people of the neighboring community based on the idea that all people should be equal.

In FY2023, Group company NIPPON CARBIDE INDUSTRIES (Hangzhou) CO., LTD. donated reflective sheetings to about 1,000 students, all students in a local elementary school. By encouraging students to use reflective sheetings, the company hopes to help keep children safe. The company also contributes to the reduction of industrial waste by using materials that would normally be discarded.
