Corporate History

Since founded in 1935, Nippon Carbide Industries Co., Inc. has been taking an important part in the Chemical Industry of Japan for more than 70 years.
Thought “Carbide” is familiar no longer, it was the mainstay material in the Chemical Industry before the arrival of Petrochemicals. As the mainstay materials have changed, Nippon Carbide Industries has also changed along, extending its business in parallel with the expansion of the Chemical Industry.
Contrary to what might be expected from the company name “Carbide”, Functional Films is our largest selling division, accounting for more than 30% of total sales. As the other main divisions, we have Chemicals, Resins, and Electronic Materials.
